On Monday, January 27, 2025, the staff of King’s College, Budo participated in a one-day workshop at the Imperial Resort Beach Hotel in Entebbe, centered around the theme “Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:16).

The session was led by Canon John Fred Kazibwe, the Headmaster, who elaborated on the theme of the year from Matthew 5:16, and Mrs. Robinah Kizito, the Headmistress of Gayaza High School, who discussed “Effective Student and Staff Engagement in the Era of the Rapidly Changing Digital Landscape.”

The workshop concluded with insightful remarks from Canon Dr. Kedrace Turyagyenda, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education. She commended the leadership of King’s College, Budo, for fostering a culture of unity by starting the year with such workshops, and expressed her gratitude to the teachers for embracing the noble profession. She reminded everyone of their accountability to God in nurturing the children entrusted to them.

Dr. Turyagyenda also shared five principles from God’s word with the staff:

  1. Represent Christ, be the light (Matthew 5:16).

  2. Strive for excellence, do not settle for good (Colossians 3:23-24).

  3. Demonstrate integrity and commitment (Daniel 6:4).

  4. Be goal- and result-oriented (Philippians 3:12).

  5. Be faithful and accountable (Matthew 25:4).

She concluded with the inspiring words from Ephesians 3:20.
