On Monday, October 29th, the annual prize-giving ceremony at King’s College Budo took place, with Architect Daniel Musana (OB-1990, Nigeria House) serving as the Guest of Honour. Architect Musana is a highly experienced professional, known for his significant contributions to numerous key projects at King’s College Budo, including:

  • Project Manager and Designer for the boundary wall and Headmaster’s house
  • Supervising Architect for the main building, Tuzimbe (Administration Block)
  • Design and Supervising Architect for the King’s College Budo Gate and Police Post
  • Design and Supervising Architect for public toilets at the sports grounds
  • Project Manager for Grace House
  • Project Manager and Design Architect for the Triangle Toilets
  • Project Manager, Designer, and Supervising Architect for Australia House
  • Project Manager, Designer, and Supervising Architect for the New Classroom Block
  • Designer of the proposed New Dining and Main Hall
  • Contributing to the design of the New Chapel
  • Awarded the King’s College Budo Medal of Achievement in March 2017

During the ceremony, several students were honored with awards for their academic and extracurricular achievements. Notable awards included:

  • Subject Prizes for students who scored Division 1 or A in specific subjects at both O and A levels
  • Timekeepers 
  • Prefects and Sub lampers
  • Special Prizes, such as Most Principled Student, Prefect of the Year, Musician of the Year, Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year, Most Improved O-Level Student, and Best Prefect of the Year, among others.

As part of his address, Architect Musana presented shopping vouchers for technical gadgets to students excelling in technical drawing at both O and A levels. In his speech, he congratulated all students for their achievements, emphasizing the pride of being a Budonian. He spoke about the importance of resilience, reminding the students that setbacks and challenges are part of the journey to success. Quoting from Numbers chapters 12 and 14, he encouraged them to view obstacles as opportunities to grow and succeed. He stressed that the training received at King’s College Budo provides the foundation for excellence and urged students to persevere and aim for greatness.

In his closing remarks, Headmaster Canon John Fred Kazibwe expressed deep gratitude to Architect Musana for accepting the invitation to be the Guest of Honour and for his ongoing support to the school through pro bono work. He thanked God for the school’s progress and congratulated the awardees for their outstanding achievements. He encouraged all students to continue nurturing their talents and to use their knowledge and skills to transform society, becoming the change they wish to see.
