On Tuesday 6th of August, 2024, the Katikkiro of Buganda Owek. Charles Peter Mayiga, officially inaugurated Australia House. He was warmly received by a lively group of students before embarking on a tour of the school and formally commissioning the impressive new building. Construction of Australia House began in May 2023, and it now accommodates 390 boys.
In his address, the Katikkiro expressed his gratitude to the Board of Governors, Parent-Teacher Association, Headteacher, and the management team for their dedication and leadership, which contributed to the successful completion of Australia House. He also praised their efforts in paving walkways and roads and maintaining the lawns, all of which enhance the school’s royal standards.
To the students, he offered words of encouragement to dream big, emphasizing that achieving one’s goals begins with envisioning them, and that this process starts at King’s College, Budo. He remarked, “Opportunity is an ever-present but silent visitor. Those destined for greatness never miss a chance to converse with that visitor.”
The Katikkiro also acknowledged Kabaka Daudi Chwa and his government for recognizing the importance of education and providing the land where King’s College, Budo now stands.
The ceremony was attended by a range of distinguished guests, including bishops and clergy, the Board of Trustees, Ministry of Education representatives, Old Budonians, both current and former members of the Board of Governors, the Parents and Teachers Association executive, headteachers, and members of the Buganda Government.
We give thanks to God for the successful completion of Australia House project.
