King’s College Budo celebrated its 118th anniversary on March 24, 2024, with a lively event. The function began at 10 am with a church service led by Retired Bishop Wilberforce Kityo Luwalira, who urged the congregation to persevere in their prayers for the church.

 

Ms. Ketty Lamaro, a Budo alumna and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, honored the occasion as the Guest of Honour. She commended Budo for its significant contributions to the nation’s economy through skilled labor and its role in promoting religious values. Ms. Lamaro also praised the Buganda Kingdom for its unwavering support since 1906, which has helped preserve cultural values among students.

 

Highlighting ongoing school projects, Head teacher Canon John Fred Kazibwe mentioned the Construction of the magnificent new Australia house nearing completion, the revitalization of the school farm, renovation of old structures, internal road construction resuming soon among others.

 

The late former headmaster, Mr. Patrick Bakka Male, was posthumously awarded the Order of Merit. It was accepted by his family.

Mr. Jimmy Rogers Katende, the Chairperson of the Board of Governors/Parents-Teachers Association and President of the Old Budonian’s Club, pledged to uphold the school’s values and traditions.

The Old Budonian’s club donated 10,000,000 to the school.

 

 

Attendees included the Board of Trustees, old and new Board of Governors, PTA members, Order of Merit recipients, alumni, parents, current students, and well-wishers. Outstanding performers in the UCE and UACE examinations of 2023 were also acknowledged.

After the ceremony, dignitaries toured the new Australia House before enjoying lunch.
